Why I believe in Creation

I Choose Creation Because...

PROLEGOMENA: I do not understand why we discuss creation/evolution within the field of Science. Creation/Evolution are opposite belief systems. The argument if necessary at all should be in church and religion classes. Neither Creation nor Evolution can be observed or reproduced and therefore it is not science. In a real sense, it is some who believe in God and those that don't; arguing about whether we are animals or are created in the image of God. For me the synergism of all the observable facts lead me to conclude the Creation model and a world-wide Noaic flood are the most scientific choice. But ultimately the choice is faith: this then is the stated conundrum.

In no particular order

1. Life cries out for a creator, both as a observer of the intricate details of nature and in our deepest part of who we are. Virtually every tribe and people on the Earth has a religion. Everyone understands a clock has a creator, or maker. Yet, some miss the infinitely more complex macrocosm and microcosm seen through our telescopes and microscopes and say it was an accident. <

2. DNA by itself is too complex to believe it is an accident. Looking at our own bodies and the dozens of enzymes and other things the body produces from food of a thousand cultures, as well as the awesome nature of the mystery of life itself demands a creator. The eye itself needs a creator.

3. If Yelm (the Big Bang) did occur, then as we observe everything in the universe they should be the same. Coming from the same "pot" all the planets should be made of the same "stuff." Instead, we find each planet quite different and made of different elements and colors. The planets have different number of satellites in different orbits. The atmosphere of each planet is unique, as is it's topography.

4. I am aware of Kepler's Planetary Laws, but the fact that each planet has a different rotation period [day] tells this observer that the Big Bang is incorrect. If all matter was blown out of the core at a consistent speed, then all the planets should be rotating at about the same speed day in and day out.

5. When we count all forms of life on earth, we find more than 900,000 different species. If we all came from the same primordial pond, we should be lucky to find one type of life. The variety of animal and plant life indicates a creator with a great sense of humor who created people as well as the platypus.

5a. If the platypus is on earth in the current era, then why can't the archaeopteryx be just as much a creature, and not a half-step?
Archaeopteryx, evolutionary point

Archaeopteryx, creation point

6. I seriously considered evolution for a time. For me, the point of disembarking was twofold:

a. Standing at the Grand Canyon, I wondered why there weren’t dozens or hundreds of other "Grand" canyons if it really took millions of years for the Colorado River to make the canyon. Instead of a little bit of water and a long time, it seemed to me standing on the edge of the canyon, I remembembered making dams and rivers in the dirt as a kid, that it took a lot of water and a short time to create a mess. Whether we talk about a tsunami or flood, observable facts say what water does, it does quickly.

b. OK, so a man might evolve. Remote, but possible. But then I realized at every step along a very long chain, a female would have to be evolving in the same generation. From lady frogs to fish, to birds to woman; folks, the possibility of this evolution occurring in step with the boy frog, fish, bird, monkey and man in hours at the lower portion of the chain, to just a few years at the higher end of the food chain [and then the female saying "yes" ] is too large a step for my mind. This single fact makes evolution sounds more like fiction than science.

7. If the Earth were in a slightly different orbit, human life would not be possible. If it was even slightly more elliptical in its orbit or even one million miles closer or distant from the Sun, life as we know it would be strained, or impossible.

8. Kepler's law teaches that each planet is in an elliptical orbit. But, unlike the other planets, the Earth's orbit is almost completely circular. The following is taken from my Stars Page. "Jan 02, 2002, Earth at Perihelion (nearest the Sun) 0.98330 au. or 147,100,000 km from Sun on Jan 02, 2003. Earth at Aphelion (farthest from the Sun) 1.0167 au. or 152,100, 000 km on July 2, 2003. In less scientific jargon, this means from deep space looking back on the Solar system, the earth's orbit would appear absolutely circular. Most of our wedding rings are more lopsided than the Earth's orbit.

9. Evolutionists can't agree on the time line, while creation stands virtually unchanged over the millennia.

9. NASA sent up a probe, I believe it was called CORE, which measured the background temperature (or noise) of the solar system. It was expected that the probe would find the background constant and unchanging, instead it found there were pockets of more noise or warmer temperature. Science has no adequate explanation for this ever changing background noise.

10. From the Peking man to today, evolutionary scientists have to create steps in the evolutionary chain. Links or steps between species simply don’t exist in the fossil record. Around 1963 I was at UC Berkeley walking through the Anthropology building and saw a board with all 28 skulls required for evolution. There were two bones out of 28 heads. My second thought was, Bet if you could peal skin off of heads for a second you could find all 28 of these skulls alive on earth this afternoon.

11. Corollary: The fossils record does not show evolution, as Darwin indicated it should. Bones don't lie. There simply are no half-steps between species. There is evolution with-in species. Finches, and humans are not all the same. Small fingers, are shorter on some people, ear lobes are hooked on some, and not on others. But in nearly 150 years of looking, we have yet to find a true proof-positive "step" between species. As a boy, I was taught that the small horses evolved into larger horses, but today, we have dimunitie horses and large horses. This "proof" I was taught as a boy, is no longer in science books, because they found so many of the fossels, they realized it was a species, and not an evolving step.

12. The amount of dust on the moon was many meters less than scientists anticipated. If you ever have the opportunity to listen to the entire landing of, Apollo 11, the first two United States astronauts, you will hear them being encouraged several times to abort the mission if the many feet of dust begin to choke their engine. Instead of meters of dust and billions of years, they found millimeters of dust. However, once Armstrong walked on the surface this lack of meters of dust became a non-discussion issue.

13. Scientists can't reproduce life in a test tube from elements. We can't even reproduce one-celled amoebas. Speaking of protozoan, scientists continue to find the internal workings of one celled paramecium called "simple" in some textbooks, with its organelles to be infinitely complex, like the Creator.

13a. Soft tissue from a dinosaur have been found in Montana. They are dated at 68 million years, but if dinosaurs were created on day five or six of Creation week (Gen 1) and died in the flood, it would be easier to see how the soft tissue survived. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4379577.stm

13b. We are told in science class that strata took thousands to millions of years to develop. On May 18, 1980 at Mt. St. Helens, over 30 feet of different strata were laid in three hours. Further, Al Franklin a pastor in Redding, CA has uncoverd a dinosaur bone easily visible in in three different strata. This flies in the face of what I was taught in government schools.

The more we learn about science, from the amount of dust on the moon, to watching Mt. St. Helens and the aftermath to space exploration of comets a careful analysis nothing shows creation to be incorrect. Inversely, evolution is showed lacking and creation makes sense.

14. THE PLANETS AS A CLOCK (This is taken from my Stars page.)
Did you know the planets run like a clock? Years ago, just in passing someone mentioned this, and I put it in my ATARI 400 (Citra 1984) and came up with the following facts that seem to show the inner planets work like a clock. If you except this concept, then it would be congruent thinking to believe the planets and a clock would either be created or evolved.

THE PLANETS AS A CLOCK
Planet Comparison Planet Plus/Minus
5 Mercury orbits = 3 Venus orbits 10 days
10 Mercury orbits = 4 Venus orbits 19.1 days
4 Mercury orbits = 1 Earth orbit 13.35 days
13 Venus orbits = 8 Earth orbits 1 day
25 Mercury orbits = 6 Venus orbits 7.7 days
15 Earth orbits = 8 Mars orbits 17 days
39 Mercury orbits = 5 Earth orbits 4.1 days

15. Society and Western Civilization requires creation. If the strongest and most powerful survive, then the person with the largest atomic bomb will survive. This is against civilization as we know it.
James DeBolt's "Does it make any difference what you believe?"

16. Why does it seem incongruous that God would use evolution?
a. Evolution is inconsistent with God's omnipotence.
b. Evolution is inconsistent with God's personality.
c. Evolution is inconsistent with God's omniscience.
d. Evolution is inconsistent with God's nature of love.
e. Evolution is inconsistent with God's purposiveness.
f. Evolution is inconsistent with God's grace.
g. God frequently does things quickly.
Genesis 1:5, "And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day."
John 6:21, “They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.”
John 13:32, “If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.”

17. Observable science requires a young earth because of the following:
a. Efflux of gasses into the atmosphere
b. Influx of meteoric dust from space.
c. the lack of feet of dust on the moon.
d. Efflux of materials from the mantle into the crust.
e. Decay of the earth's magnetic field
f. Observable meteors are disappearing before our eyes, with no observable method of renewal.

18. Observation of highly complex life and bio/eco system requires a creator.
a. The size of the sun and moon, while the ratio to earth is hundreds of times distant from earth they are exactly the same size during most eclipses.
b. Animals that clean other animals like cleaner fish that clean other fish and birds that clean hippopotamus.

19. Lightening kills observable life, why would it create life in the primordial swamp?

20. Io, one of Jupiter's four moons Galileo discovered, leaves a trail of volcanic gas in its orbit. If the solar system was billions of years old, observations would suggest Io would have disappeared.

21. We know the moon is falling toward earth at 2 to 3 inches a year. If the earth and the moon were billions of years old, the moon have fallen back to earth.

22. We can observe the earth eroding. If the earth were billions or even just a couple of million years old the mountains would be eroded back to flatlands. If the earth were one billion of years old using observable measurements, the mountains would have eroded back to plains. However, science indicates the world is at least 4.3 billion years old, which could and should have eroded the continents back to the ocean.

23. We can observe meteor showers, which we believe are comets that have broken into many pieces. They are being destroyed as they enter our atmosphere. We have observed comets like Comet West that before 1975 were one, then we watched as it broke into several pieces and in 1994, we watched it crash into Jupiter. These are observable phenomenon. We are not aware of any observable method of replacing comets. A young earth can absorb this loss; a old earth needs to find a much better explanation than the Oort cloud.

24. If everything came from the big bang, everything should be the same, at least in the solar system. All the planets should be made of approximately the same "ingredients." They should all travel the same direction according to Kepler's laws and they should all travel according to Mathematical law at predictable year and days. The years are predictable, but not the revolutions. Venus day is longer than it's year and therefore if one was sunning ones-self on the 900 degree surface, sunrise would come in the west and set in the east some 220 days later.

25. If Darwin was right and the greatest species survives, then why aren't we like superheroes? Why can't I fly over my enemy and drop in on him and with one surprise knock on the head and I would be the greatest species. Why not eyes in the back of my head. To me the fact both eyes are on one side of the head, Picasso accepted, shows evolution via greatest species is has a problem.

26. We take so much for granted, that we shouldn't. We frequently show Kepler's laws by swinging a ball around our heads on a rope or string. This makes the ball travel in a circular pattern. But our planets, every last one, is on an elliptical pattern around the Sun with two foci. It travels around one Sun with two foci or "centers" this is pretty heavy Math to accidentally happen.

27. According to theory, "when" the big bang occurred, our atmosphere was much like Mars, with water. Algae grew by the trillions until the water ways were choked with green algae. This algae breathed the carbon dioxide and turned our atmosphere into an Oxygen/Nitrogen atmosphere we now have. Once we had a dead planet. Then lightening (from where) struck the water, algae was accidentally created, it reproduced until it changed our atmosphere and killed itself off, except the few that evolved into oxygen breathing ... There are few facts to support this theory. To me Creation is easier to believe.

28. What do we do with the flat-billed platypus? To me it shows a creator with humor. It certainly doesn't show the strongest wins, as Darwin proposed.

29. The term dinosaur, means terrible lizard, so I have been told. We were told dinosaurs died millions of years before man. But they catch an Icthysaurus off the coast of Africa about once a decade. If you read about dragons, which certainly lived, we have stories of them in all parts of the world being hunted to extinction, such as King Arthur’s Knights. The pictures of Dragons on the walls of China look very close indeed to dinosaurs. The descriptions in Job 40 of the Behemoth and 41 of the Leviathan, and don't they sound like dinosaurs? How do we know that 70 foot long whales, aren't what is left of the dinosaur era? 29a. conscience 29b. rock life being diffferent than human life. Rocks may be billions of years old, humans not (cf. Gen 1:2)

31. VERSES on the topic.

Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

1 Corinthians 1:27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,

1CO 3:18-19 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become foolish that he may become wise. 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, "He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness";

1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
universe would collapse before solar type stars could form

Bio: You can view most of my credentials at Don's Bio. It might be worth mentioning, I have traveled across North America and Asia for years. I have been in diosaur bone fields in Arizona, several in Wyoming and Khon Kaen, Thailand. I spent some time in my BA and MA days, before the LaBrea Tar Pits were covered by a building watching the tar and watching college kids put bones together like a puzzle. Maybe they were right, maybe they weren't.
Want to add a line about conscience and a comment about rock life being diffferent than human life. Rocks may be billions of years old, humans not (cf. Gen 1:2) may continue a thread on complexity of life, add a line about the eye and down to outside and inside "skin." Why and how does lips differ from skin?
