The recipient name and faxnumber is converted into an e-mail address within the remote printing domain, tpc.int, and the e-mail message is routed via the internet to a computer near the destination. This, in turn, converts the e-mail message to a fax and transmits it through the local telephone network to the recipient's fax machine. Coverage is still somewhat limited, but is rapidly expanding. ADDRESS FORMAT: remote-printer.USER@FAXNUMBER.iddd.tpc.int USER: * Name and location of recipient for the cover sheet * The character '_' is converted to a space * The character '/' is converted to an end-of-line sequence FAXNUMBER: * Leave out long distance and international access codes * Begin with country code * Strip out punctuation characters * Maximum number of digits is 15 EXAMPLE: Sending an e-mail to: remote-printer.John_Doe/IBM@11234567890.iddd.tpc.int will send a fax to the U.S. number 123-456-7890 (the extra '1' at the beginning is the required country code for the USA) with a coversheet output like this: Please deliver to: John Doe IBM The message content of the e-mail follows on separate pages of the fax transmission.
